Hello! I’m Beth Davidow, and I decided I wanted to be a veterinarian when I was 7 years old. I have worked in many types of veterinary practices, including zoo, exotic, mixed animal, primary care small animal, multi-specialty small animal, and academia. I’ve held almost every position in a veterinary hospital, including kennel, reception, assistant, associate, emergency doctor, criticalist, medical director, and owner.
I am a 1995 veterinary graduate from Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. After working ER in Seattle for several years, I completed my ECC residency at Dove Lewis Emergency Animal Hospital in Portland, OR, achieving diplomate status in 2002.
In 2003, I co-founded the first 24/7 multi-specialty hospital and community blood bank within the city limits of Seattle, which grew to two locations and 150 staff. After a merger and then a second sale, I decided it was time for a change. Since 2002, I have been a consultant for the Veterinary Information Network (VIN). I am currently president of the American College of Veterinary Emergency Critical Care. For 2.5 years, I was a faculty member in Veterinary Clinical Sciences at Washington State University.
I am now the CEO and one of the co-founders of Timberline Veterinary Emergency and Specialty.
I started The Veterinary Idealist to encourage conversations in our industry around quality, ownership, sustainability, and community. I am available for consultations and speaking engagements on these topics as well as subjects in veterinary emergency and critical care. Email me to schedule and for more details. Or, take a look at my CV and publications to learn more about me, my research interests, and other speaking engagements.
